Nov. 8th, 2010 – Celebrating our first TAP’s Circles

Thursday Nov 4th – The Academy held its monthly TAPs (Taking a pause) session. This was our first opportunity to meet in TAP’s Circles. Students will meet in these small circles on a monthly basis and discuss issues, concerns or celebrations. This year we are honouring our new tradition of having students facilitate the Circles. A big thank you to our PEER FACILITATORS: Sarah, Sasha, Raquel, Ishmael (Not in Photo), David, Ben (Not in Photo), Yasin.

Nov. 5th, 2010 – CPR Training Workshop Pictures

The Academy has committed to certifying staff and students in CPR. This year’s certification was a hit! Our instructors learned from us – the Academy coined terms like; Supermodel-cool and Braino which we have assured will be used in future CPR trainings.

Thanks to John and Silvana for coming out, teaching and laughing with us.

Nov. 2nd, 2010 – Good News Newsletter Vol. 1 E2

The Good News Letter is a publication from the YMCA Academy. Last year, the Art of Living class decided that too often the news focuses on the negative aspects of our society.

They decided to do something about it and to write their own Good News Newsletter to highlight all of the positive things that happen at our school. It was a hit, and we are happy now to present the second edition.

It has become a sort of school newspaper, with submissions from many students and staff. We hope that you enjoy it, and we welcome any articles for future editions.
