Welcome! Thank you for your interest in The YMCA Academy.
The YMCA Academy admits students in Grades 6-12 who have learning style differences, or who seek a smaller learning environment, individualized teacher attention, or an enriched learning experience.
We are excited to connect with you and look forward to guiding your family through the application journey.
Admissions applications are accepted year-round. Since the admission procedure is competitive, parents are encouraged to begin the process as early as possible.

Admission Process
Submit your application
Complete the application package. You will be asked to share any relevant educational documentation including IEP, report cards, and psychological educational assessments.
Student day visit
Your child will visit us for a day, offering prospective students the opportunity to experience a day in the life at the Academy by participating in several classes. We will perform some assessments and tests to better understand their needs.
Following the visit, the Admissions Team will provide comprehensive feedback. This crucial step helps both your family and the Academy confirm that our small learning environment and individualized approach are the best possible fit for your child’s success.
Acceptance
You will be contacted with the admission decision. If accepted your child will begin the enrolment process.

The admissions process includes five main steps: submitting an Inquiry / Registration of Interest, attending a school tour, completing the application package, participating in a Student Day Visit & Feedback Exchange, and receiving an acceptance decision.
Yes. Families who are unable to pay the full tuition may apply for Tuition Assistance. The YMCA Academy partners with Apple Financial Services, which provides quick, unbiased evaluations of a family’s financial resources and serves as a financial assistance advisor to private schools. This helps ensure the process is fair and thorough. Families can contact the Academy at 416-928-0124
The Student Day Visit gives prospective students the opportunity to experience a day at the Academy by participating in several classes. Middle School and Grade 9 applicants complete literacy and numeracy diagnostics to help determine appropriate programming. After the visit, the admissions team provides feedback to the student and parents and may also ask for feedback about the student’s experience.
